There’s a fire. We're not pretending there isn't.

TL;DR: 2025 is still very much on fire. 2026 showed up with a fire extinguisher, good intentions, and mild panic. We are aiming carefully and hoping for the best.

Meanwhile, the old year is still very much on fire in the background. Loud, chaotic, and demanding attention like the petulant child who started the fire in the first place.

That's where 2026 comes in. Not as a hero. Not as a clean reset. More like a well-meaning adult holding a fire extinguisher, squinting at the instructions, and hoping this thing actually works. There's effort here. There's care. There's also a little panic, which feels honest.

That's usually how real progress starts. Not with confidence, but with showing up. With trying, even when things are messy and you're not totally sure you're doing it right. You aim. You squeeze. You adjust. You keep going.

So here's to the new year. May it be a little calmer. May it be kinder. May we give ourselves some grace while we figure things out. And if the fire doesn't go out right away, at least we're finally doing something about it.
