Generative AI Usage Policy

Effective Date: March 20, 2026

DeSoto & State Communications uses artificial intelligence to handle routine, repetitive and time-intensive work that supports the communications process. This can include organizing information, transcribing interviews, reviewing large amounts of material, developing research leads and preparing working drafts.

Our team does the work that requires experience, judgment and accountability. We develop the strategy, determine what matters, evaluate sources, shape the message, make editorial decisions and manage the relationships that move the work forward.

Using AI for appropriate supporting tasks allows us to spend more time understanding our clients, identifying opportunities and producing thoughtful work. It helps us work efficiently while keeping professional judgment at the center of every assignment.

Every client-facing or publicly distributed work product receives substantive human review. A DeSoto & State professional verifies material claims, evaluates context and sources, revises the language and approves the final content. DeSoto & State accepts editorial responsibility for everything we deliver.

We do not treat AI-generated information as a verified source. We review AI-assisted material for factual errors, unsupported conclusions, bias, inappropriate language and potential intellectual property concerns. We also take reasonable steps to protect confidential and sensitive information when using AI tools.

We disclose the use of AI when required by law, requested by a client or appropriate to help an audience understand how a specific work was created.
